Customer Service Representative


Kai USA Ltd., home of Kershaw Knives, Zero Tolerance Knives, Shun Cutlery, and Kai Housewares in Tualatin, Oregon has an immediate opening for a Customer Service Representative in our Housewares Division.


In a fast-paced office environment, the Customer Service Representative will assist our Sales Department in serving customers' needs for both Shun Cutlery and Kai Housewares products.

Essential duties include:

  • Providing customer satisfaction through effective interactions
  • Answering and processing inbound calls
  • Demonstrating positive and cooperative behavior with customers and co-workers
  • Meeting productivity, quality, and punctuality standards
  • Processing customer purchase orders and other special requests as approved by management
  • Reviewing and explaining promotions, service, and product features to representatives and dealers; troubleshooting and working to solve customer service issues
  • Reviewing orders received for price accuracy and returning those with discrepancies to customer
  • Informing customer of unit prices errors, anticipated delays, and any additional information needed
  • Advising customer if the order is close to the free-freight minimum and inquiring if they would like to take advantage of the discount by adding on to the order
  • Following up on orders to ensure delivery by specified dates
  • Providing open order reports generated by the system to advise customers of updated shipping ETAs
  • Checking shipping orders to ensure they are accurate with regards to quantity shipped; this is done by comparing shipping documents with computer-generated reports
  • Specifying if special labelling is required for shipment and supplies to the shipping department
  • Receiving and checking customer complaints, as well as answering customer inquiries
  • All other job duties as assigned

The qualifed candidate will have:

  • 1-2 years of exceptional customer service experience

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Multi-tasking and organizational skills

  • Time-management and prioritizing skills

  • Demonstrated ability to find the positive in any situation

The qualifed candidate will also:

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Have basic mathematical facility
  • Have the ability to apply common sense reasoning to carry out written or oral instructions and to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Hours: Monday-Friday; 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Wage: $18 to $20 per hour, D.O.E.
