Receiving Lead

Opportunity

Kai USA Ltd., manufacturer of Kershaw Knives and Zero Tolerance Knives in Tualatin, has an immediate opening for a Receiving Lead.

Responsibilities

The Receiving Lead will:

  • Assist the Receiving Supervisor in providing guidance and on-going training to all Receiving Associates; identify and discuss mistakes with Associates to provide opportunity for Associates' continuous improvement
  • Assist the Receiving Supervisor in planning and coordinating work duties and in training and motivating Receiving Associates; ensure Associates' ability to safely operate material-handling equipment to move materials to and from storage configurations
  • Assist the Supervisor in monitoring unloading of materials into the Receiving Department; ensure materials are staged for counting and inspection; ensure Receiving Reports accurately report material received
  • Help to resolve discrepancies with Accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and Receiver Reports; also monitors paperwork flow from Receiving to Inventory Control for timely data entry
  • Oversee the movement of material from Receiving to Warehouse in an efficient, effective, and safe manner
  • Regularly observe Receiving Associates to ensure they consistently follow all established department and company policies and procedures
  • Assist the Supervisor in ensuring productivity targets are achieved and that all processes and activities are running smoothly and promptly
  • Motivate Receiving Associates, encouraging teamwork, pride, and accountability to ensure productivity targets are met and accurate
  • Assist Shipping Supervisor in resolving any issues or customer complaints
  • Hold daily meetings with Associates prior to shift start
  • Verifiy, order, and maintain appropriate supplies for the Receiving Department
  • Collaborate with internal and external departments on any Receiving-related issues and paperwork; handle any necessary administrative tasks per Supervisor's direction
  • Ensure materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures; oversee the rotation of inventories within the Warehouse
  • Monitor Receiving and Warehouse performance for accuracy of locator, Receiving reporting, movement and storage of material, and transfers to service parts
  • Ensure timely and accurate transactions associated with inter-company transfers of product
  • Have the ability to use and/or be trained on pallet jack, forklift, and other machinery as needed
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

The qualified candidate must:

  • Have a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Have 1-2 years of experience in a shipping or warehouse environment
  • Be able to get along with others in a team environment

  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds; with some heavy lifting at times

  • Be willing to ask questions of supervisors or managers if unsure about a specific order or request

  • Be able to communicate with other departments and outside vendors

  • Be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions and be able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Be able to pass the Kai USA ltd mathematical exam (add and subtract two digit numbers; multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s; perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance)

  • Must be able to pass the Kai USA ltd reading exam (read, write, and communicate effectively in English)

Hours: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday-Friday

Wages: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
